Description for case is given below :
While internationalization may present growth opportunities for Canadian small businesses, the challenges involved can be daunting. In August 2013 the founder and president of Maynooth Natural Granite was trying to decide whether he should expand his small business internationally. He was satisfied that he was able to turn his gravel pit into a well-recognized supplier of washed decorative rock in Ontario. However, the president was concerned that his success could be short-lived, as Ontario had a saturated gardening market. As he explored new international opportunities he must decide whether he would be able to replicate his success in the new markets while balancing the responsibilities of his Canadian business interests and his family life.

Description for case is given below :
This case describes the creation of Dr. Tim’s Pet Food Company, a small company centred on providing superior nutrition for dogs used for athletic and competitive purposes. The company has developed a brand image of high quality and premium natural ingredients, and has gradually extended its product line while maintaining the quality of its original formula. Although the company has been very successful and has grown at an ever-increasing rate, its founder is concerned about the difficulties of expansion that Dr. Tim’s Pet Food now faces. Located in an isolated area of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, the company is not easily accessible to sales representatives or larger populations. Furthermore, the company’s founder does not want the brand to lose its high quality or natural image, and is therefore resistant to the idea of distributing his company’s products in large discount retail outlets. In addition, the founder of Dr. Tim’s Pet Food Company runs a veterinary hospital and is therefore hoping to limit the physical expansion of his newest entrepreneurial project. While keeping all of these limitations in mind, the case presents four growth strategies open to Dr. Tim’s Pet Food Company: penetration, product development, market development and diversification. Students are asked to consider which option would be best suited to the company’s expansion based on the information provided.

Description for case is given below :
Pemberton Products is a U.S. market leader in the cookie and bakery snacks segment of the sweet snack market. Looking to expand into the salty snack market, the company acquires Krispy Inc., a maker of salty snack crackers located in the southeastern U.S. To compete with premium cracker brands, Pemberton plans to reformulate and re-launch the Krispy brand as “Krispy Natural,” which offers natural ingredients, improved taste, and revised packaging. Market tests in Columbus, Ohio show market share results that are double the company projections while results in 3 cities in the southeastern U.S. fall well below expectations. The marketing director must interpret the market test results, consider possible competitive responses to the new brand, and present his recommendation for a national rollout to the VP of sales and marketing.

Description for case is given below :
A utility company must replace an aging coal-fired power plant. Accordingly, management must develop an Integrated Resource Plan that carefully explores all reasonable options considering the varied interests of many stakeholders, including electricity users, regulators, environmentalists, and the community in which a new power plant will be built. State regulators require that the utility company minimize the costs to ratepayers, but costs are difficult to determine given the potential for high taxes on carbon emissions as well as volatile fuel costs during the multi-decade lifetime of the replacement. The analysis is further complicated by the differences in project risk associated with the different technologies. The senior vice-president must choose carefully, because he will be required to defend that choice to many varied and passionate stakeholders. A capital budget analysis should be conducted that takes into consideration the many uncertainties associated with this problem.
