Description for case is given below :
Diamond Cab has developed a business model to provide improved transportation for wheelchair users. The model shows that services considered as social welfare can actually be profitable, as wheelchair users have increasingly demanded better transportation beyond inconvenient rehab buses and commercial taxis. Diamond Cab has navigated the regulatory environment and cultural norms of Hong Kong to offer its award-winning service, and other cities have come to learn from its initial success. As a social enterprise nurtured by Social Ventures Hong Kong, a venture philanthropy fund, it faces the challenge of soliciting more investment and talent to scale up the operation with a larger fleet of taxis and eventually return monetary and social dividends to the investors of the fund.

Description for case is given below :
This case is about an affluent and educated woman who decided to start her own organization to support young mothers. Shortly after the birth of her first child, Karin Marques stopped working full-time and soon felt the pangs of “maternal isolation” that mothers commonly report. Finding no satisfaction in the already-existing network of Mothers’ Centers, which were geared more towards childcare, Karin formulated a concept for a mothers’ center that would “provide support to women before, during, and after their maternity leave.” By adopting a theme of “equal opportunities for men and women” – a priority for European Union Member States and an area where the Czech nation planned to grow – Karin registered Klub K2 as a non-governmental (non-profit) organization (NGO), and hoped to access funding from foundations or the European Union. The thematic focus Karin has chosen – women’s reentry to the labor market after maternity leave – is a hot-button issue, particularly in new European Union Member States. Yet as Karin’s start-up costs rose, and some members of her team of instructors backed out, Karin wondered how all of the pieces would come together by the time she was ready to launch her organization.

This case is about implementing a strategic initiative at Grand Circle Corporation, one of the largest international tour operators in the US, sending over 1 million retired Americans overseas since 1985. After having launched the Grand Circle Foundation in 1992, the owners come to the realization in 2003 that it is not achieving its original mission. The case describes the challenges that the company is facing in trying to embed corporate philanthropy as part of their business model rather than it being a side show. The reader is left with a number of unanswered issues concerning what the owners, Alan and Harriet Lewis should do.
