Description for case is given below :
In July 2015, the largest automobile company in India, Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), took the initiative to improve its market penetration in a particular category of the passenger car market-the premium segment. Although MSIL was the current market leader in India’s entry-level car segment, the company had not been successful in establishing itself as a dominant player in the premium segment-a segment that had seen intense competition since 2008. By launching Nexa, a new nationwide premium dealership, through its existing dealer network, MSIL was attempting to create a differentiated car buying experience. MSIL planned for all-new premium models to be launched exclusively from Nexa outlets. Would the launch of Nexa help MSIL attain its desired objective of becoming a major player in India’s premium car market?

Description for case is given below :
Safe Water Network, a charity initiative focused on providing underserved populations with clean drinking water, established its first site in the village of Nizampally, India. This initiative was unique in a number of ways in its conception as well as its execution. Firstly, after vigorous assessment of the identified region, demand-driven solutions were customized to deal with the specific water-related issues of the region. Secondly, it was supported by prominent Indian and international companies who not only provided monetary support but also extended assistance in terms of technology, assessment and further research. Thirdly, the project was economically sustainable and required active participation and ownership by the community it served. Safe Water Network’s directors hoped to scale up and sustain the adoption of the Safe Water project. The commitment and participation of the villagers was truly heartening but would this enthusiasm continue? Would the villagers see value in this expenditure? Were there any barriers to the project’s adoption?

The president and chief executive officer of Progistix-Solutions Inc. has asked an analyst to prepare an annual review of the Xerox Critical Parts Network for presentation to management in two weeks. The president expected the analyst to review the performance of the network and establish an improvement plan for the coming year, supported by specific goals and objectives. Although Xerox and Progistix were satisfied with their relationship, after five years, both parties were interested in exploring ways to improve the network, especially because competitors had adopted similar approaches. In preparation for the meeting, the analyst wanted to explore opportunities in three specific areas: First, identify opportunities to improve depot operations. Second, determine how and where Progistix could work together with Xerox on such an initiative making additional improvements in the area of inventory management. Third, improve systemwide inventory turn performance by re-examining the cut-off point for filling the technicians’ trunks with inventory.

Description for case is given below :
Anime News Network (ANN) is a Montreal-based news website that provides information and news about anime (Japanese animation) and manga (Japanese comics). The site’s primary readership and target audience is North American fans of anime and manga, but it is known and read by fans worldwide as “the world’s leading destination for news and information about manga and anime.” Under its founder and chief executive officer, ANN has grown from a hobby, staffed entirely by volunteers, to a profitable business with 3.3 million readers, annual sales of US$1 million, seven full-time and five part-time employees, and sister ANN websites in Australia and the United Kingdom. The critical question facing ANN is whether the company has reached its growth potential, given the niche nature of its readership base and a steady decline in the monetary value of the North American anime market.

Description for case is given below :
In 2004, Tata Communications (TCL) was trying to act on its strategic intent to become a globally connected network provider. It had two alternatives: build or buy. The build option would provide TCL with a chance to develop its own network under its own terms. The possible acquisition of the Tyco Global Network (TGN), however, provided a unique opportunity for TCL to establish this global position quickly. As one of the largest global networks at the time of the case, the TGN was a limited asset. The acquisition of the TGN would catapult TCL into being a top player in global Internet connectivity. Even though the acquisition price was low, the associated liabilities and risks could make this a substantially expensive acquisition for TCL. Should TCL negotiate with Tyco? If yes, what would be an acceptable position to proceed with the deal? How should TCL plan for the mitigation of risks and uncertainties? If not, what would be the consequences of losing the TGN opportunity, particularly if a competitor acquired it?

The case documents a board room scenario where the Directors of PEN, a not-for profit organization, have met to re-consider an important decision; either wait for the city government’s approval regarding allotment of government schools or consider other options, such as building own schools. Having completed several rounds of unsuccessful negotiations with the City District Government of Lahore (CDGL) the founders are feeling agitated and disappointed. Hence, at this point, the members are considering the organizational models of CARE and TCF; two well-known NGOs of Pakistan, and aim to finalize the strategic decision, based on the assessment of the two organizational models, given PEN’s mission, vision, organizational, human resource, and financial capabilities.

Description for case is given below :
In 1992, Maureen Clarry and Kelly Gilmore quit their jobs to start CONNECT: The Knowledge Network, an Information Technology Consulting company. Maureen and Kelly did not take a salary for the first six months of operation, and expected to keep expenses down by working out of their homes. When both women became pregnant, they had to redefine their business model and find a suitable office space. They found an old Victorian house with a separate building to serve as an on-site daycare center and proceeded to create a family-friendly office environment. They focused their business strategy on building a network of consultant “partners” to provide data warehousing and information systems consulting to large companies in the Denver area. In 1998, as companies attempted to expand their workforce in an increasingly tight job market, CONNECT added permanent-placement to their temporary-placement services. This new service line required an increase in CONNECT’s workforce, and within a year, CONNECT expanded from 8 to 20 employees. The economic downturn of 1999-2000 prompted CONNECT to refocus the business once again, forcing a layoff of some long-time staff as well as its recently hired recruiters. This case chronicles the process that Maureen and Kelly and the entire staff of CONNECT went through in making the difficult downsizing decisions.
